Bring The Baby Home

Last week-end I was in Viareggio, a beautiful town on the Tuscan coast. Every time I go there, I always visit the (unmissable) Silvia Bini boutique with two dear friends, both devoted shoppers. This time I was there on a 'mission': to get a CÉLINE Cabas bag. In my language, a baby means a beautiful purse. And that's indeed a great addition to the family.

Phoebe Philo is a genius and I would buy anything designed by her, even scuba diving wet suits or building site hard hats (hopefully she won't start these lines anytime soon). This Horizontal Gusset Cabas bag in Royal Blue is minimalistic and absolutely sophisticated. I thought I wanted the original version of the Cabas, but I was not convinced by the coulours available (yellow, brown/orange and a questionable pink salmon). The Gusset is more structured than the vertical Cabas and possibly more practical to wear because of the long handles. In any case, I can always wait for their Fall collection to pick up the Bi-Cabas in Vernice and Lambskin Black...

PS: This purse was by no means the only new entry in my wardrobe, but I'll give you a full report of my shopping tour in Tuscany in another post...

  1. Cara, the bag is gorgeous! I would have liked also the yellow one... Yellow is a great colour for summer, especially combined with navy (and sun tan by the way...)

  2. talking about cabas bags, a couple of months ago Alice and I went to NY and while we were at Bloomingale's we bumped in celine's corner shop and it was love at first touch!!! the leather was incredibly soft... but in US the price is even higher than Europe, so I opted for a Michael Kors shoulder bag..:O)

    Lara (Cassandra)

  3. @Anonymous - Thanks! The yellow one was really cute and I think that for the Cabas you have to go for bold colours. But then I opted for the electric blue, which I found more 'versatile'...

@Lara - The leather is super soft and that's the quality of the material that made me fall in love with this bag...I think I saw the Michael Kors you have and it's indeed another beauty...

  4. Gorgeous bag and I'm looking forward to see it up close and personal.
Btw, too bad they don't have it in red...or do they? :-)

  5. @Bag-aholic - Thanks! I think I saw the classic Cabas in red/burgundy...they come in so many colours, but with few exceptions (black, navy and brown) they propose new shades at every collection...If you are looking for something red, I really like this one http://www.celine.com/fr/index.asp#/fall_2011/fall-acc-2011/9

  6. Thanks! I'll be going on a bag-safari soon!

  7. @Bag-aholic - My pleasure! And keep me posted on the bag-safari!

  8. I'm curious... Who are your other babies??

  9. @Anonymous - The complete list might be long, but my dearests include the oversize YSL Muse in black leather, the Balenciaga Part Time in green leather, the Pierre Hardy Besace in black leather and canvas...Stay tuned to get updates on my babies' top wish-list...

I thought you lived in Brussels, the no-sun-city, as a friend of mind describes it: are all these Summer bags a substitute for the Sun and the real joy you would be experiencing elsewhere? And do these bags ever get the chance to appear in their real colour, or are they to be admired in the gray dullness of the plat-pays?

  11. @Carramba che sorpresa - Indeed I live in Brussels, which isn't the sunniest city on earth, but there are some nice shops - wait for my next post...As for my new baby, I don't see it as a summer bag. It's a bag I can wear all year long, and I decided to go for the electric blue because I find it a 'neutral' colour...I know, it sounds like a contradiction in terms, but if you think about it, it goes with grey, brown, black, etc...

  12. Carramba che sorpresa28 June, 2011 01:36

No, I agree: that electric blue is a neutral color, I entirely agree with you.

I just bought a green leather Belstaff jacket for the same reason. Any company that makes green work for a leather jacket deserves my money.

  13. @Carramba che sorpresa - Glad that we agree...I've been looking for a leather jacket for some time, but I'm always struggling to find the right model and colour...I would go for green/taupe, but it seems impossible to find it...

  14. @Carramba che sorpresa - Actually I forgot to ask you, do you have any suggestions for a nice leather jacket?

  15. Carramba che sorpresa28 June, 2011 20:52

    I do:

But it depends what you are looking for.

  16. @Carramba che sorpresa - Thanks! I was thinking about something like this Andrew Marc http://www.vogue.com/vogue-daily/article/five-days-five-looks-one-girl-sylvana-ward-durrett-met-gala/#/gallery/sylvana-ward/13, which is a more affordable version of a Rick Owens' http://www.luisaviaroma.com/index.aspx?#getData.aspx|CallType=Product&prodId=ACG20&des=250&cat=&gender=women&group=&vendorColor=MzQ=&season=actual&seasProdID=53I

I am not too sure about the collar. But I would need to see it live.

  18. Since many men and women are mindful that keeping up with your healthy
weight range has several emotional and physical benefits. The EPT pregnancy test will normally have a test display window which
will not only show the outcome of the test but also whether or not the
test is being undertaken in accordance with the manufacturer.
When you are doing caloric cycling you will have burn days and
    feed days.

  19. Therefore there is hardly any need to take the risk in this matter.
In fact, I always suggest to those overweight vegetarians to keep to a max
of 4 pounds a week so you won't suffer loose skin post
weight loss. Therefore, the sale of ephedra pills is illegal in US.
