Wearing: COS alpaca and wool coat, Maison Martin Margiela for H&M navy oversized jumper, Vanessa Bruno skinny jeans (similar here), Zara black leather biker ankle boots (similar here), Sophie Hulme Mini Envelop Bag in nude
I had my eyes on Sophie Hulme's bags for quite sometimes. Imagine my excitement when I realised that Santa (ably directed by Mr. NJAPD) brought me the Mini Envelop Bag in the most beautiful nude colour. Famous for decorating her bags with distinctive hardware and original charms, Sophie Hulme has created a collection of practical and chic purses, whose appeal is perfectly described by the words of Barneys New York: "Sophie’s designs offer a tomboyish take on feminine designs—think happy colors and refined silhouettes paired with tough, industrial hardware".
I always tend to go for big bags, so the Mini Envelop Bag is definitly a new 'style challenge' for me. My new mini friend compelled me to get rid of the many kilos of useless stuff I tend to bring with me, and this purse can easily fit what I consider to be my essentials (in order of importance): cardholder (read shopping), iPhone (read blogging) and keys (read not sleeping under a bridge). I find this pale shade very easy to style and absolutely trans-seasonal, not to mention that the dinosaur keychain charm that goes with the bag is an adorable, playful touch. I thought the leather would be softer, but honestly this is the only (small) downside I could find. I have the feeling that this might be the the beginning of a long (fashion) friendship.

What a great, well-designed bag. I think I might find the challenge of paring down my belongings for one this size just a little too tough though. My handbags tend to bulge!
ReplyDeleteAh, great bag (and jacket!). Now I need a dinosaur charm for my purse ;)
ReplyDeleteCaterina that is truly a beautiful bag (love the dinosaur) - though I'm not sure I could cut down on bag contents like you've done!! ;)
ReplyDeleteI also love the texture of that coat... it's beautiful. So perfect for a winter's day.

Love this one, really great transitional piece as you said, and it will be lovely come spring summer!
ReplyDeleteI've been very intrigued by Sophie Hulme lately, undoubtedly thanks to you :) I love the structure of this particular bag, as well as the colour and of course that dinosaur charm! I practically laughed out loud when I saw it ;) The small bag is also a challenge for me, largely because along with several kilos of things I might need someday but have never used, I am always carrying my camera. But my back and shoulders have been loudly protesting, so it's time for me to make a handbag size change - perhaps a Sophie Hulme shopping trip is in order!

PS: I can't help noticing your Martin Margiela for H&M sweatshirt in this post as well, and absolutely applaud your ability to wear it in such a sophisticated way :)
I love it - particularly because os its size and stiffness :}
